: Online Desludging
Legionella control of cooling towers is becoming an increasing issue with plant and utilities operators today. Relevant standards, such as AS/NZ 3666:2002 require a cooling tower be cleaned at least every six months as part of responsible legionella risk management. Cooling tower cleaning previously required the plant to be taken offline and people to enter a confined space to desludge the basin and the cooling tower internals. ICES have the solution to this with the introduction of the Tower Tank. The Tower Tank is a submersible, remote controlled vacuum system that can desludge the basin while the plant remains at full production. The Tower Tank can also be used to desludge dams and lagoons. It’s rubber tyres will not damage dam liners. Fitted with optional submersible CCTV allows video capture of the cleaning process and even maintenance inspection of pipes, drains and tanks. Sludge can also be dewatered using a mobile belt press, to produce a clean filtrate stream and a solid sludge. Benefits of the Tower Tank system include: - Compliance with cooling tower cleaning requirements of AS/NZ 3666:2002 without lost production;
- No hazardous confined space entry requirements;
- Visual/video confirmation of cleaning progress
- Low sludge volume produced using the belt press option.
